A new survey of 2,000 garden owners has found over half do not know the difference between a shrub and a weed and three quarters didn’t know what a geranium and a pansy is!
This knowledge gap is affecting the quality of british gardens with one in four people calling their garden space ‘scraggly’ and most admitting that gardening was a chore.
The report found that the 10 jobs in the garden that are neglected the most are:

1. Cutting the grass
2. Weeding
3. Laying a patio
4. Laying decking
5. Fixing/putting up fences
6. Dead-heading
7. Digging flowerbeds
8. Building a shed or greenhouse
9. Choosing plants or flowers for the garden
10. Trimming/cutting flowers or plants
