Pacific Rim tantalises fans with poster release
Many people have been asking the world of film to provide them with a movie that documents the tales of giant robots defending the world from evil – at least, they have since Michael Bay’s Transformers franchise grinded to a halt. Luckily, Pacific Rim director Guillermo del Toro has commissioned a poster that tantalises and excites its key demographic.
The film, scheduled for release in July, has generated huge excitement with a new poster campaign. Telling the story of soldiers piloting huge robots to fight giant monsters that have mysteriously risen from the bottom of the ocean, Yahoo! Movies was offered the first look at a character poster for a colossal Russian robot, and it naturally took the opportunity to showcase its exclusive.
Cherno Alpha is one of the movie’s Jaegers – massive mechanical machines that take on the monsters by using their own savage physical presence, coupled with fighting skills. However, the robot proves to be one of the world’s many creations that “prove ineffective”, Yahoo! explains, leaving the fate of humanity to “two unlikely heroes who drive a legendary but obsolete titan”.
It is quite impressive how a simple printed campaign can spark so much excitement, though it looks like the Pacific Rim marketing team are onto a winner!
