Battlefield 4 flyers highlight exciting future for franchise
With the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare franchise shutting up shop after its third iteration back in November 2011, it looks like Dice and EA can finally take advantage of a one-horse race for the top-selling first-person shooter of 2014 – though as a recent flyer has detailed, it doesn’t look like it is resting on its laurels. In fact, it seems to be taking its title to a whole new level.
Photos emerged on PC Gamer showing a new batch of freshly-printed Battlefield 4 pre-order slips, which are lined up and ready to go at the GameStop chain in North America. Among the confirmations for the new title is vehicle combat, as well as Commander Mode. The latter feature, last included in Battlefield 2142, offers certain players a tactical map much like a real-time strategy, which also lets them order teammates around.
One of the most exciting and talked-about elements of the new game is the chance to play as one of three factions: the United States, Russia and China. PC Gamer mused: “Will China be a re-skin, or a unique faction with its own vehicles? Even more unlikely, could we see three-way battles?”
It added: “And could this speculation be based on a piece of paper literally anyone could have printed out and taped to a GameStop cash register? Yes, it could, but it looks like legitimate promo material.”
