Lecturer wins poster competition ahead of major rugby clash
AÂ lecturer, who is well-known by his friends as “Mr Beer”, has lived up to his moniker by winning the latest competition by brewery Brains to design a spoof advert to celebrate the Six Nations rugby tournament.
Chris Callow took part in the Cardiff-based brewer’s Facebook contest to create a poster to promote the Brains brand in conjunction with the annual sporting face-off, choosing to go with a stylish noir poster that showed Welsh head coach Warren Gatland and his assistant Rob Howley in secretive talks.
Accompanied by the slogan “So Rob⦠what do you know about the English camp?”, it made for timely reading ahead of the Wales and England clash this weekend, when the winner will go on to take the Triple Crown, Grand Slam and tournament. Both teams are so far unbeaten, having defeated Scotland, France, Italy and Ireland.
Other great posters were also entered into the Brains competition, and included a Google grand slam search as well as an England player replaced with a leek. Mr Callow himself had submitted other designs that also finished quite highly – the 32-year-old had also depicted scrum-half Mike Phillips as The Incredible Hulk, while he also added the illusion of Brains beer cans being thrown to players during a lineout.
