WWF poster initiative offers 23 talking points this March
Ahead of one of the biggest environmentally-related international initiatives of the year, a poster campaign has been concocted by a charity in partnership with one of the UK’s leading digital marketing magazines.
Working with the Drum over the coming weeks, creative at Do the Green Thing have revealed that they will run 23 custom-designed posters – one for every day in the month prior to the kick-off for WWF Earth Hour, which takes place on March 23rd.
During Earth Hour, environmental campaigners are encouraging people to do their bit and switch their lights off from 20:30 to 21:30 to support future sustainability; the Drum will highlight the directions each artist takes by running each poster on the morning they go to print.
Among those taking part in the initiative are Andrew Rae, designer of Monkey Dust; Pete Fowler, a world-renowned monster creator; and Sophie Thomas, co-head of design at the RSA. Michael Bierut, partner at Pentagram, kicked off proceedings by scaring people into cutting their shower time short.
Using the shower scene from Psycho as his centre point, he said: “Taking a brisk, water-efficient shower is the best way to start a productive day. And the most famous shower ever filmed was one that was notoriously interrupted. Had Janet Leigh been a bit quicker, she may have made it to the end of the movie!”
