Pixar turns up the printed media for Monsters University
One of the most anticipated films of the year is soon to hit UK cinemas, and already the buzz online is getting ferocious. This has undoubtedly been stirred up by the posters that are now being rolled out up and down the country, which play upon the movie franchise’s well-known simple approach to promoting the probably blockbuster.
Monsters University, which goes to general release on July 12th in Britain, is the eighth film in as many years for the popular computer animation film studio, and sequel to the highly-rated Monsters, Inc. from 2001. If the 12-year wait for this prequel was not enough to get people excited, then its familiar poster campaign will, depicting the various stars of the silver screen on plain white backgrounds.
Empire was the first to crank up the action with its release of all the posters and mock ID cards that are being released for the film, which are currently being put up on billboards, postcards and other promotional media in great volumes, much like they were for Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph in recent months.
“It’s been 11 long years since the original Monsters, Inc. but that hasn’t dimmed fans’ love of Sully and Mike one iota,” it said, leaving those posters – the best – until last. “In fact, chances are you’ve jotted down Monsters University’s release date into your diary already – that’s July 12th, by the way – and you’re really rather excited about these eight new posters.”
